The ‘alternate’ series ending for HIMYM was sloppily
edited and made just to appease fans (like myself) who hated the original
ending yet I still loved it because it was the ending I wanted from the start.
Team Yellow Umbrella!! Screw the Blue French Horn
Ever since the alternate ending leaked online, fans have
been uploading the 5 minute video to various video-sharing sites but, without
fail, it always gets deleted because of copyright.
So, what was the alternate ending?
It starts with the gang (suited and dressed up) at
Maclaren’s Pub on the day of Ted and Tracy’s wedding. Lily describes the
journey to their wedding as a long difficult road (like in the original) and
thanks God that they finally got there.
But unlike in the original ending where it was Josh
Radnor as Ted who did the final narration (as we see the wedding unfold), in
this version it was Bob Saget as Ted who narrated and what he said was way
different from before:
“Aunt Lily was half-right, it was a long road, and you
might even say it was really, really, really, really long but difficult? Nah!
It was life, stuff happens in life, things fall apart, things get put back
together. When I think how lucky I am to wake up next to your mom every
morning, I can’t help but be amaze at how easy it all really was…” (as the narration continues, we flashback to the events leading to their meeting)
(the speech was really long so a big thanks to periaqueductal
@ reddit for posting the above image)
And it ended with their first meeting at the train
station and the credits roll…
No Blue French Horn, no Ted going back to Robin, and (most importantly) Tracy
isn’t dead!
