A to Z (NBC-2014) Episode 7: “G is for Geronimo”

It’s a shame that this show’s been prematurely cancelled since I like it a lot but I understand NBC’s decision since A to Z is not bringing in the ratings. Atleast, they’re still airing the rest of the episodes ordered to give us fans a closure.

Frankly, I wanted to love this show as much as I loved HIMYM for the sake of Cristin Milioti but the episodes would alternate from great or okay or forgettable. In fact, Episode 7 is the first ep since the pilot that I considered great and would rewatch again and again.

Episode 7 Recap: “G is for Geronimo” (Currently at 7 months, 2 weeks, 2 days and 1 hour)

Zelda: “What if I wasted my life being a lawyer?”

Andrew and Zelda take the next big step in their relationship by sharing their music (on ITunes) were Andrew learns the pitfalls of sharing his music while I learn that Katy Perry had a gospel album released before she became famous.

Apparently, Zelda had a demo song (from when she was 16) which Andrew discovers and accidentally shares with the whole office park including Zelda’s law firm. Her song becomes a hit and she realizes that maybe she made a huge mistake by not pursuing her dreams of becoming a singer.

She’s bummed that she wasted her chance before and chose being a lawyer instead. So, Andrew takes Zelda to an open audition where she leaves right away and reveals that she blew off her chance before not because she didn’t want to be like her mom but because she was scared of failing.

But, when Andrew tells her that he really loves her music, Zelda changes her mind and she auditions. Days later, she receives the recorded message where it states whether she got accepted or not. She chose not to listen to it right away as she explains to Andrew:

Zelda: “When I walked through those doors, into that audition, I was so nervous but then I realized that it doesn’t matter what happens because I have a great life. If I had done anything differently I wouldn’t have my great job, my friends and I wouldn’t have you (Andrew).”

Even if she’s dying to know the result right away, she chose to share the moment with Andrew as they take another big step in their relationship.

Stephie: “We can hang out now, Stu. We’re even.”

Stu snoops around Stephie’s things and finds her certificate from the National Psychic Council, of course he makes fun of her for it, but he still asks her to do him psychically. She gets two of her predictions right: the color yellow and Geronimo (pertaining to Stu’s old motorcycle) so Stu tracks down a woman named Greta because Stephie predicted that she’s gonna have a big impact on his life.

He tracks Greta all the way to her home in Glendale but she’s already married with kids (and currently expecting). Hilariously, Stu calls Stephie if he should still break up the marriage anyway since she said that Greta’s so life-changing. Stephie reveals that it was all fake and that she tricked him to get back at him for tricking her to bed. Thus, they’re finally even.

Lydia: “I’ve got the best team in the business.”

We find out that Lydia or Big Bird becomes super nice when she’s hammered but she’s not happy about it because she’s a “bad person”. While she was drunk, she gave out compliments to all her Wallflower employees which resulted to increased office productivity.

So for the sake of keeping the productivity up she gets the idea to drink 24/7 instead of following Howard’s easier and safer way - to treat people better. She drinks anyway and compliments everyone on a doing a great job. But Howard informs her that she’s not drunk, he didn’t put alcohol on her long island ice tea. So turns out, Big Bird’s not a bad person after all (though she passionately denies it anyway).

For the end tag, to close Episode 7, we finally get to hear Cristin’s amazing singing voice to the tune of Carole King’s ‘Home Again.
