The upside to
losing a key character is gaining a new one and in this case, he’s just as fun and
more intense although a little too extreme. But, it’s Robin Padilla! So he’s
already a win in my book.
Episode 6 Recap
In his creepy
lair, Maskara watches Wendell’s new segment on Showbiz Police while he angrily defaces a photo of Jasmine.
Osorio and
the Chief interrogate Miguel and gets frustrated at his insistence at not
knowing or remember anything while he was captured by Maskara, especially
because of Ramirez’s unexpected death. Miguel regrets what he did but he’s a
victim too which makes Osorio grab him by the collar.
Miguel’s
Senator dad ushers him out of the room and tells the Chief that if they have
any more questions for his son, he can ask their lawyer instead. They protest
that they still need Miguel but Senator threatens Osorio; never lay a hand on
his son again or else!
Miguel tries
to apologize to Jasmine but she just gives him the cold shoulder while Senator
snidely thanks her for saving his son. Jasmine retorts that she didn’t do it to
save Miguel who still remains a coward by not helping with the case after so
many people risking their lives just to save his pathetic ass.
Alexis and
Osorio sits down with Jasmine as they groan losing Miguel as a key witness for
the case because Senator Asuncion won’t ever let Miguel sully their family’s
name. Osorio promises Jasmine that they will catch Maskara whatever it takes.
Our URLoved
couple gets interviewed by Wendell for Showbiz
Police. They talk about how they both didn’t attend the launching party and
Alexis quickly apologizes to their fans and asks the audience how they can forgive
them. And, of course, the audience chants in unison: “Kiss! Kiss!”
The couple
shyly looks at each other and Alexis motions Jasmine to his cheek and as she
inches closer to kiss him, he turns his head to kiss her instead and the
audience goes wild.
Osorio gets
introduced to the macho guy from the previous episode. He’s Agent Agila from
the NBI (who has a fixation with his goatee). Agila is here to take over
Maskara’s case, which is now a joint investigation with the NBI and taunts
Osorio that if they took over sooner then his partner Ramirez wouldn’t have
died and they wouldn’t have lost a key witness.
He goes
further to say that they don’t even know their suspect’s real name and Osorio
doesn’t have any choice but to team up with Agila. Osorio complains to the Chief
but his hands are tied. Osorio quietly mentions a name ‘Jacinto’ and before he
can continue, the Chief bursts in anger demanding him to never say that name in
front of him again.
Jasmine tries
to talk to Alexis about the kiss but they get interrupted. When Alexis leaves,
Carly teases her citing that they’re love team is slowly becoming real, citing
Alexis positive qualities. Steven interrupts them to bring good news, since
URLoved is an instant hit, Ponds is producing a new commercial with her and
Alexis.
Steven is
still upset with Jasmine keeping secrets from him, especially about their sting
operation, so Jasmine cuddles up to him and sweetly apologizes. Steven can’t
resist his favorite ‘alaga’, he forgives her and they share a group hug with
Carly.
Miguel is
berated by his dad and reminds him again to never see Jasmine again. Miguel
wants to do the right thing and confess but Senator warns him that the moment
he does, the media will be all over him and they might uncover his illegal
political activities. Miguel has no choice but to comply and Dad tells him that
he’s so sick of cleaning up after his mess and it’s about time that he takes
responsibility for his own actions. Such hypocrisy!
Osorio
searches for Jacinto in their database and we find out his full name and why Chief
is so angry towards him, turns out he did a lot of major misdemeanors on the
force and he’s quite the troublemaker.
At home,
Jasmine and company are all slump at the couch, completely exhausted. They
notice a bouquet of flowers, and guess whose it from? Miguel, of course! It
contains a note where Miguel admits to being a coward and apologizing for
everything he did. And we cut to…Senator finding Miguel lifeless in his
bathtub.
Osorio visits
an inebriated Julius Jacinto(Robin
Padilla) at his house which is cluttered with empty bottles of various
alcohol drinks and the first thing he does is to offer Osorio to drink with
him. Osorio expectedly tells him he can’t since he’s still on duty and Jacinto
replies that weren’t he also on duty with Ramirez died?
Osorio asks
for his help, he’s the only one he can turn to. But Jacinto is not interested,
he told them before that their whole precinct is corrupt but no one listened to
him. Osorio assesses the situation and decides to come back later, when Jacinto
is in a better mood.
RIP Miguel!
Senator announces to the press that his son died due to his wounds but also
adds that he was broken-hearted because of Jasmine(hinting that she somehow
caused his suicide), she expectedly resents him for blaming her for his son’s
death.
Osorio has
Miguel’s suicide note, given to him by Jasmine, and Chief tells him to hand it
over to the NBI. Just then, Agent Agila arrives to reprimand him for keeping
the note to himself. Osorio can’t take it anymore and leaves telling them that
Jacinto was right, “You’re all just a bunch of rats!”
Jasmine gets
hounded by the press and Alexis acts as her bodyguard and shields her for
safety. She waits in a make-up room with Sarah Mae, who immediately starts a
fight, calling her a flirt and such. Jasmine, for a change, fights back and tells
her that she has too much time on her hands, spreading gossips and nonsense.
That gets Sarah Mae to shut up, feeling embarrassed.
Steven and
our URLoved couple meet with the Ponds execs to talk about the new commercial
and the exec gets personal and asks if they are a couple in real life. Alexis
smiles and it looks like he’s about to say Yes! but Jasmine is quicker to reply
No! which makes Alexis look mighty pissed.
Steven pipes
up to say that their relationship status is complicated and steps out with the
exec to talk business. Alexis breaks the silence and says that they need to
talk but we don’t see their conversation.
Osorio
presents Jasmine and Carly Jacinto’s police files and we find out that Jacinto
is Ramirez’s professor when he was still on the PNPA and they were brothers on
the force. But, he was kicked out of the force because he was ‘unstable’ which
Osorio reveals was just a setup to kick him out because he investigated a corrupt
but powerful city mayor.
Ramirez
fought for him to stay on the force but nothing happened. He adds that
everything Ramirez knows is taught by Jacinto. Carly reads that he’s also a
drunkard and a violent one at that. She and Jasmine are both unsure to seek him
out for help but Osorio says that they don’t have any choice; he’s the only one
who can help them. But the problem is, Jacinto doesn’t trust the police force.
So, Osorio
visits him again bringing their evidence and accompanied by Jasmine to convince
him to help. Jacinto reveals that Ramirez also approached him for help before
but he also turned him down. He and Jasmine go back and forth about doing the
right thing; he lost everything he had when he did the right thing and she
counters that Ramirez lost his life to do the right thing because he taught him
that.
Jacinto
thinks that Jasmine only wants to catch Maskara because her conscience is
bothering her. Jasmine doesn’t respond and tells Osorio that it would be better
if they just leave.
But later,
Osorio hands Jasmine Miguel’s suicide note saying that Jacinto noticed
something odd, there are numbers in the note that leads to a security deposit
box at a bank and Jacinto believes that Miguel put it there for Jasmine as a
clue. And, inside the box is a USB. It contains videos of Miguel’s (rape)victims.
Ugh! Good riddance Miguel!!!
Jasmine tells
Wendell that she has no plans to release the video in public but she has other
plans for it. Wendell gets cornered by a producer and advises him to use his
friendship with Jasmine to get the exclusive scoop on Miguel’s case. Wendell
promises to do so but it’s obvious he won’t.
At home,
Jasmine mopes around and blames herself for Ramirez’s death; Carly comforts her
and says it’s not her fault. Jasmine is determined to catch Maskara and end
this all.
On set,
Alexis asks Jasmine out to grab a bite and they head outside to eat ice cream.
They take this opportunity to have ‘the talk’. Alexis tells Jasmine that he
feels she’s avoiding him, especially after Ramirez died. She tries to explain
but he cuts her off and grabs her hand and tells her that what he feels for her
is real.
Osorio gets
taken off Maskara’s case, because the chief found out he approached Jacinto for
help, much to his chagrin. Just then, the Chief gets a visitor: Jacinto.
They
get into a heated argument right away, Jacinto points fingers at Chief for not
protecting Ramirez just like he didn’t protect him before and Chief retorts
that it’s not like he’s happy to lose another officer. Jacinto barks
at him, “Promise me that you will catch the guy who killed him.” Instead of
responding, Chief orders Osorio to drag Jacinto out.
Outside,
Jacinto shows Osorio the necklace Maskara gave to Jasmine. There’s an
inscription on it: EM. Jacinto knows who designed the necklace and he drags
Osorio with him to investigate. And, this is the start of what I like to call
our ‘Rogue Duo’.
The designer
turns out to be a Chinese businessman named Mr. Go. After single-handedly
fighting off Mr. Go’s henchmens, Jacinto asks him about the necklace. Mr. Go
tells them that it’s one of the necklaces he designed for a beauty pageant in
the 80s and 90s ‘Mutya ng Maynila’. And, the inscription EM is an initial for a
certain ‘Elaine Marasigan’.
Jasmine and
Carly visit Senator Asuncion to hand him Miguel’s USB and he’s surprised to
find out that Miguel had so many victims. Jasmine assures him that she’s gonna
keep this a secret as long as he stops blaming her publicly for Miguel’s death.
At a Pond’s
presscon, our URLoved couple gets interviewed while Osorio surveys the area
looking for signs of trouble. Agila tells him to stop Jacinto from interfering
with their case.
Carly jokingly
threatens Alexis that if he hurts Jasmine, she’s gonna hunt him down. Alexis
assures her that he’s not gonna harm her in any way.
Agila notices
a guy wearing a black hoodie and alerts Osorio to safely escort Jasmine out of
the party. As they head out, Agila follows and corners who he thinks is Maskara
but turns out to be just a photographer.
Meanwhile, Jasmine gets inside the
escort van and guess who turns out to be the driver: no other than Maskara. He
shoots Osorio in the chest and drives away with Jasmine. Agila and the
others, hearing the gunshot, rushes outside but they’re already too late;
Maskara has successfully kidnapped Jasmine!
COMMENTS
I’m sad that we
lost Ramirez but if that’s what it took to make Osorio step up, then it’s fine
by me. I liked their pairing before because they balanced each other out but now
I’m more excited for our Rogue Duo to do all sorts of rogue things. Especially
when the rest of the police force are just incompetent and ineffective.
And, I just
love the intensity Robin Padilla brings with his character; a jaded, volatile
and drunkard ex-cop who got burned by a corrupt system acted by an impassioned
and solid actor? Such great stuff!
